On Wednesday, August 4, 2010 the Indiana HIV Consumer Advisory Bureau hosted the “2010 Empowerment Series” Consumer Forum in the Northern Area of the State. There were over 45 guests in attendance. Dinner was provided by Raimondo's in Fort Wayne, IN. The guests were consumers from Regions 1, 2 and 3, Care Coordinators, pharmaceutical representatives, and medical providers.
The event was opened by Lisa Lloyd, Advisory Board Liaison from the Indiana State Department of Health. After opening comments, Lisa introduced the speakers, Jackie Scher, N.P. from Lutheran Hospital Infectious Disease Department and Neal Carnes, Surveillance Incidence Coordinator from the Indiana State Department of Health. Speakers presented information concerning adherence, medications, and empowerment
Several door prizes and give-a-ways were presented to all participants. All CAB members from the Northern Area were in attendance: Thom Bauer, Chair and Northern Area Representative, Jessica Hillis, Region 2 Representative and Vince Guzman, Region 3 Representative. A special thank you goes to Vince Guzman and all the regional representatives for coordinating the event in Region 3.
